The Heritage Room
Near Assi Ghat
2
1
A restored room in a 19th-century townhouse, with lattice windows, hand-carved teak furniture, and soft morning light falling on lime-washed walls.
The neighbourhood
Assi is where the city softens students, sadhus, and long-time residents share the same chai stall. The lane outside is narrow but never chaotic; you'll hear temple bells at four and see boats drifting past by five.
A day here
Wake before dawn for a walk to Assi Ghat, sit with a cup of masala chai while the sun lifts over the river, and return for a slow breakfast in the room. Afternoons are for the lanes; evenings for the aarti at Dashashwamedh, a ten-minute rickshaw away.
