Sarnath is a different pace pilgrim monks in maroon robes, deer parks, and long shaded paths. The old city is a twenty-minute drive when you want it, and blissfully far when you don't.

A day here

Walk to the Dhamek Stupa at first light, spend the middle of the day reading on the veranda, and drive to the ghats for the evening aarti before returning to a quiet garden dinner. Perfect for stays of a week or more.
