The neighbourhood
Sankat Mochan is leafier, quieter, and closer to the temples people actually pray at. The haveli itself is set back from the road, so you enter through a small wooden door and step into another century.
A day here
Mornings begin with children feeding the temple monkeys (from a respectful distance) and evenings end with dinner in the inner courtyard thali, jasmine on the plates, a housekeeper who has been with the family for two decades.
